Stussy x Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
So, Stussy decides to collaborate with Disney on an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit line of shirts at the same time I am reading Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination? I love synergy! For those of you unfamiliar with the story of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit - you can quickly get up to speed via those know-it-alls that update Wikipedia pages - but its definitely a fascinating story. Look for these shirts to drop in 2011 at Stussy stores worldwide. Image via The Feed.

Supreme - Popeye Collection
Popeye the Sailor is a fictional hero notable for appearing in comic strips and animated films. He was created by Elzie Crisler Segar and first appeared in the daily King Features comic strip Thimble Theatre. Popeye has now become the strip's title as well.
In 1941, with World War II becoming more of a source of concern in the United States, Popeye was enlisted into the U.S. Navy. Over the years, Popeye has become a icon amongst the U.S. Military branches of service, often represented in drawings on airplanes, helmets, garments and tattoo's.

Chris Paul x Jordan - CP3 IV
I like this colorway of the CP3 IV's a lot more than the first few colorways that leaked. I was thinking about going with the Kobe VI's for this season of my Mens Leauge, but these are pretty fresh, and look to be quality from a performance standpoint as well. Check the specs via NK:
"This lightweight sneaker features a no-sew construction, Zoom Air and a lateral forefoot and specializes in extreme cushioning and responsiveness through the Podulon technology. The Jordan CP3.IV is easily one of the better basketball sneakers on the market currently. Look for this Black/Orion Blue Jordan CP3.IV to hit retailers on January 1, 2011, for $118."

The ShoeZeum!
Today Was A Good Day at Sneak's Kicks from Jordan Geller on Vimeo.
WOW - um, sneakerheads dream playground? Inside peak in to Jordan Geller's legendary collection. Background info from the man himself:
Ten years ago I started selling shoes on eBay when I stumbled upon a bunch of vintage Nikes at a local swap meet. I emptied out my checking account (a whopping $300) and bought as many pairs as I could afford. I rushed home to my one-bedroom-apartment and listed the shoes on eBay. Week after week, I went back to the swap meet and bought more Nikes. Eventually, the swap meet vendor disappeared, never to be seen or heard from again. So I had to figure out where I was going to get my inventory of Nikes from. Over the years, I have bought and sold hundreds of thousands of Nike Shoes. My business grew from a one-bedroom-apartment, into a two-bedroom-apartment, into a storage locker, into eight storage lockers, and eventually into the warehouse where I am presently. I decided that the best use of my giant warehouse and my profits that I have worked so hard for, was to build the most comprehensive collection of Nike shoes and put them on display for the world to enjoy. So one by one, I built this amazing collection. All of the shoes are in my size (11-12). All of the shoes are deadstock with their original boxes. And all of the shoes have been professionally shrink wrapped for their protection. The shoes have been placed on display with toys and props that are meant to bring the collection to life. The shoes were mainly purchased on eBay and Flightclub, as well as at Footlocker, Sportie LA, Niketown, and Nike Outlets all across the United States. The toys and props were all purchased at the same swap meet where my business got started.

West Coast Stand Up!
I've been HEAVY on a west coast grind lately. Old and new alike - I've been filled with thirst for showin' love to my coast's musical talents of late. Whether it means old NWA, Classic Dre, post-jail 2Pac, Doggystyle Snoop (excuse me, Snoop Doggy Dogg), always underated Kurupt (Streetlights is a CLASSIC), The Outlawz, WC, Warren G, Nate Dogg, Mac 10, old Eazy-E, The Game, of course Crooked I, Bishop Lamont, Juice, G Malone - I can't seem to quench my thirst and get enough quality West Coast music listening in. I almost feel like I need to apologize for my wife for playin' it so much, or for my tweeples for talking about it nonstop lately.
I mentioned it on my Twitter feed a couple days ago - but the Legend himself, Dr. Dre (note to the new generation: the guy that makes the cool headphones all your favorite athletes wear) was on Power 106 here in LA, and out of the blue (to me at least) - dropped a HUGE cosign to industry newcomer Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick first caught my ear last year with his self-titled EP. Smooth, low-key music. Yeah, the kid is from Compton - but never banged - and doesn't create wild stories to create that image. I was a fan. I really began to OD when he dropped (O)verly (D)edicated - his skills were being honed, and it was clear that he had a bright future. Listen to HOC (or watch the VID - the kid is mature beyond his years:
"I go in studio sessions, and feel like a nerd/cuz I'm the only ***** there not smokin no herb/ you tellin' me the kush makes you think on level 4?/I'm on 5, you saying that I can level more?/In high school, my teachers thought I was smokin' stress/Didn't know my eyes low cuz of genetic defects/ I stimulate my mind, everytime I think about the end of time/creation of man, and columbine".
I do feel its a little sad that its 2010 - we are nearly 12 years removed from Dr. Dre's last album - and it takes his cosign to garner a west coast rapper attention on the national scale (save a few). That being said, can you imagine what a Dre cosign would do for some of these new age West Coast representers not prone to wear chucks and khaki's such as Dom Kennedy, Pac-Div, or even Shawn Chrystopher? Regardless, check Kendrick's newest video, Look Out For Detox, below.
Oh, and Dr. Dre. just dropped a video for his single, Kush, with Snoop and Akon, which you can check out here.

Public Label - Winter Collection
The Hundreds "Grown Man" collection - Public Label, just dropped their Winter 2010 collection. Clean products, basic colors, and high quality - but damn, the price bites back as well. The K-2 shirt shown above comes with a striking $92 price tag. I understand that TH is trying to differentiate between Public Label and their namesake (see: Exhibit A, or the recently released Exhibit B) - but yeah, $92 for a pocket t is a bit excessive. Official write-up below:
Lightweight cotton/polyester jersey. Flat lock stitched pocket tee with neck ribbing over body construction. Public Label "Straight" woven label sewn to sleeve.

Freshjive - White Horse T
If you wanna ride, don't ride the white horse." - Laid Back
"White Horse" is a funk-influenced dance track by Laid Back with a memorable bassline and ambiguous, drug and sex themed lyrics ("white horse" being slang for heroin) that became popular in US clubs. It went on to spend three weeks at number one on Billboard's National Disco Action charts and was also a crossover success, reaching the top five on the Hot Black Singles chart while peaking at number 26 on the Hot 100 in early 1984.

Li-Ning F2 - Liftoff
Did you know that Li-Ning is the 3rd largest shoe Company in the world, behind only Nike and Adidas? Neither did I. Li-Ning made light of their recent US Customs mishap (US release of the respective shoes were pushed back weeks due to their packages en route from China being locked up in US Customs) with the above viral commercial, featuring cameos from Gerry Bednob (of The 40-Year-Old Virgin) and
Props to my boy J-Hop for all the work he's puttin' in over at Zambezi (producers of the commercial), and check NiceKicks for more images of the Li-Ning F2 Liftoff shoe.

Kevin Durant - KD III's
CounterKicks has a preview of the first half-doze pairs of the KDIII's set to hit the market. It's going to be a Nike Team shoe, so expect many more colorways to come.
Reason #328 why K Durant is a good dude, and will ALWAYS have a reasonably priced performance basketball shoe - When KD was coming up, he could never afford the good shoes (i.e. MJ's, T-Mac's, etc), so he had NIKE put it in his contract that his shoes, although performanced-based - would be set at an affordable price point. Compare the $130 for Kobe V's, $160 for Lebron 8's, and the $OnlyGodKnows for the Jordan's to the $85 KD III - and you have quite a deal. Respect.

George Condo Explains Kanye Commissions
As much as I love appreciating art and digesting it on my own - there is a larger piece of me that loves to hear from the artist himself to understand what he was trying to acheive with his work, what his insirations were, etc. George Condo did just that by opening up to the NY MAG about each of the pieces he did for Kanye West's soon to be released album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Below, check out Mr. Condo's thoughts surrounding one of my favorites, Head with Sword (second to his cubist-style portrait). Check the full interview via NY MAG.
“I really like that idea of a Shakespearian thing,” West told Condo about this painting of a severed head wearing a crown. The piece’s two contrasting styles -- “cubism and classicism forged together in a single painting” — dovetail, Condo says, with West’s music, with its “layers of different styles happening simultaneously.” What did Kanye see in the picture that made him like it? “His tragedy was a kind of exile that Kanye imposed upon himself,” Condo says. “He was free from exile by having the cathartic moment in the image. He’s alive in the painting, you know what I mean? In a strange way it’s like, he opened his eyes.”

Left Field Denim
First things first - Pause. No Homo on that pic. The fella's over at Denim Debate had a raving review of Left Field Denim, and my buddy Drew just bought a pair so we'll see how they work out for him. Check the DD review below:
Seriously, these jeans are like a gift that keeps on giving. Every day the fit and feel is better than than it was the day before, despite the fact that both were pretty much perfect from the get-go. It’s like a freaking perpetual motion machine of awesome. I’ve been wearing them nonstop since my last post, short of one or two pant-free Sundays at home. There is already some very nice fading happening in the crotch, particularly the marks caused by the button fly. The wallet indentation is also coming in nicely, as are the creases in the back of the knees. Also of note is how unbelievably soft these things have already gotten. Historically, my experience has been that it takes at least three months (though usually more) for raw denim to feel, well, not terrible. Amazingly, at only a little over 30 days in, these already feel great against the skin. Not to come-off like a total shill, but these really are the best jeans I’ve ever owned.

Univ - Encinitas, California
I made it down to one of my favorite shops outside of LA in California in the world this weekend, Univ down south in Encinitas. It takes more than having quality product and strong accounts to make a store high on my list - although Univ does have a Quickstrike Nike account, and stock brands such as Warriors of Radness and The Hundreds, two perennial favorites here at Oh Snaps. Univ has also has a very strong house brand - featuring everything from raw selvage denim to oxford shirts and polo's, to t's and tanks. My buddy copped the Star pullover above - and you have to feel it yourself to truly understand the quality product they are churning out. The decor is on point - featuring relic photos, a spinning record player with kicks on top, and 8 tracks throughout the store. Top it all off with friendly, knowledgable staff (not your typical 'cool guys' more in to their itunes playlist and surfing the net) and a site that is 3 blocks up from the beach - and you have Univ, an Oh-Snaps approved fan favorite. Check out their online store for yourself.

Mick Boogie – 93 Til’ Infinity Mix… Inspired by NBA JAM (Mixtape)
NYC-based Mick Boogie, known for his eclectic DJ sets and amazing mixtapes, is also an avid basketball fan and a video game junkie. With the recent return of the classic 90’s arcade game NBA JAM (now refreshed and remixed for 2010), Mick was inspired to put together a mixtape of classic and rare 90’s remixes that serve as the soundtrack to where we were back in the day. Being that NBA JAM dropped in 1993… Mick’s decision to call the mix “93 Til’ Infinity” was the only appropriate choice!
In addition to the mixtape, Mick collaborated with vintage t-shirt designers Homage to create a limited edition NBA JAM/93 Til Infinity inspired tee to celebrate the release of this mix and the videogame. You can find the shirt HERE. Via

O Clock
O Clock, designed and manufactured in Italy - provide a nice alternative to your wrist-game collection. Similar to the iPod watch from a couple days back - you only need to purchase one watch - and can but multiple straps to mix up the look. Considering the quality of the product and the fact that its made in Italy - surprising to see these are also very reasonably priced. Check them out on their website here.More info, via O Clock:
Fullspot company was born from different experiences coming together and it is animated by its founders. Through a synergic interaction of their skills, this new brand comes alive and launches O clock, the first of a series of products thought and manufactured in Italy and that are destined to become cult-objects thanks to their practical utility and aesthetic value.
Countertrends, Fullspot promotes “Made in Italy” and not just “Designed in Italy” products and projects, thanks to the appropriate mix of customization, attention to detail proper of Italian production and our designers’ ability.
Fullspot addresses young and dynamic people, who make use of simple objects to stand out and complete their own look.
The attention to the future is demonstrated also by a constant search for materials and eco-sustainable projects, so that future generations can have the use of the same resources we inherited from previous generation.

Oregon Ducks x Nike x Tinker Hatfield
Oregon once against cashed in on their strong Nike ties (shout out tofounder Phil Knight, as well as world reknowned designer of the Air Max 1 and the most famous Air Jordan's and current VP of Design and Special Projects, Tinker Hatfield).
Specifics:
The darker brown framing center-court is comprised of a tree design, honoring both the Pacific Northwest’s green image as well as the 1939 Oregon national championship team known as the Tall Firs, while three graphics along the court pay tribute to the three phases of the life (so far) of Pat Kilkenny. Kilkenny is an Oregon donor and former athletic director who is the namesake of the new floor as well as being among the people most responsible for Oregon’s new basketball stadium, Matt Arena, named in honor of Phil Knight’s late son.

HEX Watch Band (for iPod Nano Gen 6)
These are just about sweet enough for me to consider picking up one of the new Nano's. Pretty simple (and sweet) idea - just pop in your iPod Nano, and its a stylish watch. How sweet is that? Check out HEX Watch for more info.
As a side note - this is why I love constant innovation. Whenever a new product is made (especially from Apple), the new gadgets/cases/accessories that accompany it or draw inspiration from it often draw just as much excitement (if not more) as the original product (I mean, Louis Vuitton put out an iPad case for $365, for damn's sake). . For all we know, whoever is behind this HEX company was sitting at home, unemployed, staring down at his Silicone bracelet when he saw a commercial for the new iPod Nano and was struck with an idea. This is how we'll get our economy back on track - innovation!

XLarge - Holiday 2010 Collection
I feel like XLarge is a brand that constantly gets slept on. Not so much with regard to what they are putting out now - but from a historical perspective. While Stussy is the first thought that comes to mind of California brands really pushing the Surf/Skate (and eventually Streetwear) look, XLarge gets no love. Xlarge has been putting it down since 1991, which is no small feet, especially in the current environment. If nothing else, I mean damn, Nigo basically switched up Xlarge's already established logo and flipped it to start A Bathing Ape (better recognized as BAPE).
Not saying what XLarge is pushing the edge from a design perspective, all I'm saying is we can still pay homage and respect to one of the OG's that changed the game. Check more from their holiday 2010 collection here.

Kid Cudi x Bape
Niiiiice. Another Kid Cudi and Bape collab/t-shirt. I'm really looking forward to Kid Cudi's cd dropping next Tuesday, November 9th....should be another, dare I say it, classic album?
CLIPPERS WIN!
Yes, I felt this post was necessary. I may or may not be drunk right now, but its time for the 4th wall to be broken down. So far this season, every game the Clips have lost - I was expecting a victory. Yeah, the Blazers, Jazz, and Spurs are all perrinial playoff contenders, and the Warriors shot 99% from the 3pt line, but I was still expecting victories in each of those games. The Clips have too much talent and potential to have a repeat of the last (insert astronomical figure here) years - Griffin is all world, Gordon is a gold medalist who is finally reaching his potential, Kaman is an all-star, Rasual Butler is a defensive force with a shot, Craig 'the Rhino' Smith can body anybody up on the post, DeAndre Jordan is developing a mini hook to compliment his, um, offensive skill set, Gomes and Foye are quality veterans that add a bit of a maturity to the youngest squad in the leauge, and Bledsoe and Warren are forces to be reckoned with. That being said - I was still writing off today's game against the Thunder as a loss before tip-off. Long story short - the boys came to play, and we got our first DUB of the season.
So yeah, I apologize for not texting/tweeting you all back during the game, and I may have to suck it up and go to Sharkeez for each of the next 77 Clipper games so we can continue to win - but hey, I'm going to do what I have to do to keep this momentum alive!
*Back to your regularly scheduled program of Shirts, Kicks, Jeans, Music, Pop culture, and art....tomorrow.

Outlawz - Killuminati2k10
I don't know what the deal is - but I checked the Stats on my blog the other day, and was really surprised that my #1 viewed post of all time (we're talking over 5 years of activity here, folks) was May 2008's short post providing a link to the Best of 2pac and the Outlawz" mixtape. I'm thinking that may be more a function of random internet searches for the legendary 2pac and/or his loyal soldiers versus my daily readers - but since today is election day, I figured I better not risk anything and I should just play it safe and post the Outlawz newest mixtape, Killuminati 2k10. Hussein Fatal is back in the mix, and this is their appetizer prior to releasing their next LP - Perfect Timing, in Q1 2011.
Check out The Outlawz site to stream the mixtape in its entirety, and if you like, download the mixtape for free. Also - for the true Outlaw fans out there, you can purchase the mixtape for $7.99 in iTunes without the DJ Smallz drops throughout.
My thoughts - all in all, a strong effort. Doesn't crack my top 3 Outlaw releases (Outlawz & DJ Fatal - Retribution: The Lost Album, Outlaw 4 Life, and Outlaw Warriorz), but worth checking out.

Nike Lunar Flow
New performance-based Nike Running shoe called the Nike Lunar Flow will be making its debut in 2011, and I have to say, these look hot! I'm in the market for a new pair of running shoes, and it looks like I found a winner. Do yourself a favor and check our more pics (and the other colorway - which is just as nice, if not nicer, as the one above) over at Nice Kicks for more.

S-Double - Limited Edition Shirt Drops
OG in the game Shawn Stussy (no longer associated with the brand that still carries his name) has been quite lately over at S-Double studios. Yesterday, completely out of the blue, he announced that he dropped 5 new Limited Edition t's which you can cop now. No un-neccessary hype. No lookbook. No promo video. Just quality product. All available now at his web store. Above is the gangster tee, which I'll let him describe:
Gangsta Lean / Tee
Gangsters come from all styles and backgrounds... My favorites are the smooth operators, exotic rides, drinks at noon, gals in the penthouse... This design comes on our new tee shirt blank made in America of 100% cotton...

Noma Bar - "Michael Jackson"
Noma Bar graduated from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design with a graphic design degree. Mr. Bar is known to utilize negative space, as evidenced here. Check his description of one of his personal favorite pieces below:
"If you turn your head, you can see that the face here is made up of the image of a baby. I pulled the image of the baby in the diaper from the mother-child changing station pictogram signs that you would see in a rest area. In the reference image, there is a mother changing the diaper, but I changed this. I made the baby's head bigger to become an eye for Jackson, but it's also an eye and mouth for the baby. The idea here is taking the baby from the mother and giving it to Micheal Jackson’s face. A lot of the story with Micheal Jackson was that the parents of these children sent their children off to the monster, in a way. This was a personal piece."
