Indigo: Pocket T

Question - When is a perfect fitting pocket T not in style?
Answer - Never.

For those rolling their eyes - there is a big difference between a plain Hanes undershirt and a high quality t (yes, shirts are worth more than the graphics printed on them). Inspired by military designs with an added utility pocket, this USA made shirt (slub cotton) is built to last. Purchase here.

Stussy - Livin' General Opening Reception

I was able to hit-up the opening reception of the Stussy Livin' General pop-up on La Brea yesterday - great event. Lots of product, Minimal crowds, PBR (and Stumptown cold-brewed coffee for the misses since it was a morning event, after all) - no complaints on this end.

The Hundreds - 10th Anniversary Re-release

The Hundreds turn 10? Wow, where has the time gone? It actually doesn't even seem like their 5th Anniversary pop-up was 5 years ago. To commemorate their 10th year in business, Bobby and Ben went back in to the archives for the first time ever and are re-releasing 10 of their personal favorite shirts. Read up on each of the re-releases here, and purchase here (but be warned, these will go fast).

Read Bobby's anniversary post here, and congrats. Remaining relevant in the streetwear scene for 10 years is nothing to scoff at, let alone their impact in helping to usher in the new generation of said scene and push the genre forward.

Nike Flyknit Free

I can't believe I missed the (pre) release date of the Free Flyknit's! Evidently Finish Line was given a go  on releasing 2 colorways prior to the main-release on August 1st. This is definitely the next generation of Nike running shoes. Heavily leveraging the supple "free" sole and flyknit upper, this is as close as your going to get to barefoot running (without looking like this). I got a heads up on the of the general releases - and in some of the basic colorways actually look the best. Specs after the jump.

Stussy - My Crew T

Yep - that about covers it. I love Shawn Stussy's pensmenship, and this shirt is great. On the other side of the fence, not even the font can get me to wear this other shirt around LA.

Forestin' Gear

I've been hearing that Japan based brand, Forestin' Gear, has been all over the trade shoes (Agenda, Capsule, etc) looking to secure US distribution. With a denim-centric line-up made up of various outdoor ready goods - I don't foresee any problems with that at all. Stay tuned for more.

CP3 VI - AE

It had been over a year - but I finally hit the basketball courts again, and its great to be back! Since my boy CP3 resigned with the Clips, I figured I would show him so love back and purchase the 'artisan edition' of his 6th signature release. Long story short- love them. Low cut, light-weight, great traction. I'm not in the business of doing performance reviews for basketball shoes - so check out Nice Kicks for more.

Divinities - 98.exe T

I heard a random fact that stuck with me earlier in the week: the tragic events of 9-11 are now closer to the fall of the Berlin Wall than 9-11is to today. Crazy right? This new shirt from Divinties, featuring a pixel'd version of a tropical beach scene aptly titled "98.exe" reminded me of that story and just had to share. The internet and computer graphics sure have come a long way haven't they? Purchase this shirt here, and check out the Divinties entire lookbook here.

Charles Barkley

First things first - Vintage caricature Charles Barkley shirt is available for purchase here!

Now, unless you've been living under a rock, the Zimmerman verdict was announced, and while the trail is over, the lingering impact is still felt. While it seems like everyone (and their mom) has an opinion on the case, most are pretty predictable - depending of course on the news outlet (radio, TV, website, etc) you are tuned in to. Recently, Sir Charles was asked about the Zimmerman trial in an interview - and while you may or may not agree with his stance on the verdict, his opinion on media's role his hard to argue with. Check the transcript after the jump, and the link to the video of the interview here.

Roshe Run - Tiger Camo

Nike continues to drop different colorways of its unexpected 2012 cult favorite. While the simplicity was part of the appeal, no denying the Nike is rolling out the red carpet treatment for the Roshe now.  Tell me these wouldn't work with some fitted khaki's? Available for purchase here.

APC x Kanye

The highly anticipated APC x Kanye collaboration is out today, and available for purchase online. The collection in inline with the typical APC aesthetic - minimalist look with no external branding, featuring high quality products (egyptian cotton on the shirt, japanese selvage denim for the jeans). Strong collection - but I'll leave this one to the Hypebeasts. More power to the both of them, but not much sense in paying a 25% mark-up for a tag that says KANYE APC instead of the standard APC.

Here is APC Founder Jean Touitou speaking on the collaboration:

"Over two years ago, a visitor to the A.P.C. studio was announced to me as "Kenny." He wanted my advice on the fashion industry; although I found such a request quite vague, as a mutual friend introduced us, I met with the guy. The guy talks, talks and talks and I was having a good time listening. He had nice manners and spoke about losing his mother in a surgery accident, about losing his girlfriend too, and about how difficult doing the right thing in fashion was. After a while, I was curious to know what this gentleman was currently doing in his life. I simply asked him: "May I know what your trade is, sir?" He took his shades down, so that finally I could see his eyes, and answered me: "I am a hip hop artist."
At some point my crew informed me that his name was West, Kanye West. I introduced him to the A.P.C. design studio, and he kept asking how he could start something in that fashion industry. This is when we all advised him to start that something in France, and keep quiet about fashion noise while learning about it. Then later, as we became friends, he invited me to his recording studio at Hôtel Meurice. At the time he was working with Jay-Z on an album, which wasn't already named, Watch the Throne. Over the months, we kept hanging out and finally came up with the idea of doing a small capsule collection of clothes together. "Small" meaning that this capsule collection consists of a jean, a hoodie and a T-shirt. Those are precious to me and to Kanye too, because it took time and thoughts to get there." --Jean Touitou

XPAYNE Interview

First things first - has it really been almost two years since the last OSTT interview? Apparently it has - and my apologies for that. We've got some excited features coming up for you - and the first in line is an interview with illustrator XPAYNE. I stumbled on XPAYNE's work while aimlessly scrolling through my Tumblr feed, and landing on a re-blog of the image shown above, inspired by Tupac's autobiographical poem "The Rose that Grew from Concrete". I always loved that particular analogy, and it was one of my favorite poems of his. I felt like the artistic rendition above captured not only the beauty of the rose - damaged petals and leaning stature be damned, but also was able to showcase the dichotomy of Tupac himself, the sensitive thug; all of which was heightened by the vibrant colors offset with the black background.

After checking out the rest of XPAYNE's art online as well as some of his other works available online for sale (House Party, Summertime, Southernplayalisticadilacmusik) - I knew that I not only had to support the hustle and purchase a print - but I also had to share his work with the world. Check out the interview after the jump - and be on the lookout for some more exciting prints that will be available soon*.

Brothers Rich: The Charleston - A Gents Road Racer

Simply said - this bike is beautiful. I've been thinking about buying an old vintage bike and fixing it up as a weekend project (my neighbor is always restoring old cards, so it's been inspiring me a bit), and if I don't go that route - this is going to be the answer. Check out the specs on the bike here.

In a world that’s become overly complicated, bikes are simple. That’s not to say they aren’t complex, there is a difference. I have built a simple bike. It shares equally its designated space on the living room wall to be admired as it does under foot blasting through city streets or country roads.”

With only a couple bikes available for sale - be sure to be on the lookout for more production shortly

HUF - Reign Woven Shirt

I love it when (skater) brands like Huf make great crossover products like this 100% Ikat cotton woven shirt, made right here in the US. When you are able to play up to your core market by still releasing some of the more absurd/vulgar socks, shirts, and hats - but also create products for a maturing audience that grew up supporting you - my hat goes off to you.

Apparel manufacturing jobs coming back to the US!

Made in USA basics for men at the Montgomery mall store.

I'm still in the "4th of July" mind state - so stumbling on this article in USA Today that was focusing on clothing manufacturers bringing work back to the US was a great find. Everyone knows that it's cheaper to produce products overseas, but a many brands are learning that people are not only willing to pay a premium for products made in the US, but they are also finding other fringe benefits (quicker turn-around times, more accurate orders, etc). Say what you want about American Apparel (or their dirtbag CEO) - but I think a lot of the recent turn around on US production is due to AA's popularity, both domestically and internationally. Check the article for yourself here, and lookout for the 'USA' label on this and other OSTT posts for features on products that are made in the US!

Ox & Tree - Belt Keeper Lanyard

Check out this new design from leather goods maker Ox & Tree - innovative, right? I like the idea of a leather lanyard attaching to the belt directly, rather than the belt loop. Read up on the product specs and purchase here.

KAVA - Strap Bucket Hat

KAVU is a brand out of the Pacific Northwest (Seattle to be exact) that focuses on quality products made to fit an active, outdoor lifestyle, all manufactured right here in the USA! I like their range of hats - but don't sleep on their watch straps, bagsclothes, and other do-dads. Purchase the hat pictured above here.
