APC x Supreme

2 of my favorite brands collab on a pair of jeans and 2 shirts. More:

In 1987, Tunis native Jean Touitou created the French fashion label A.P.C. (Atelier de Production et de Creation). Over the years A.P.C. has distinguished itself as a prestigious clothier of fine apparel based on classic items and silhouettes. A.P.C. is headquartered in Paris with primary stores sprinkled across various parts of the world including France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Tokyo and the US.

For fall 2009 A.P.C. and Supreme will present a two piece capsule of a denim jean and graphic t-shirt. The jean, a specially designed version of A.P.C.'s classic New Standard style, will feature a back pocket embroidery and a removable pin. The tee will come in two colors; red (available exclusively at Supreme stores) and black (available exclusively at A.P.C. Stores).

Available in-store and online on October 1st. Available in Japan on October 3rd.

Sneaker Wars - The Enemy Brothers Who Founded Adidas and Puma and the Family Feud That Forever Changed the Business of Sports

I read this book earlier this year, and tried to write an entry for SBC to no avail. I couldn't find the words to capture the essense of this book, but I just kept coming back with "Amazing". The booked managed to tell the come up of the two shoe companies, all while intertwined with family drama, world history, back stage scenes at various Sports/Olympics events with world-class athletes, and all-around corruption.

While perusing DIMEMAG (my favorite BBALL site on the net), I came across an interesting headline, "Adidas and PUMA settle decades long feud in soccer game", which quickly grabbed my attention. Although its hard to truly understand the nature of this bitter rivalry without reading the history presented in the book, check the article here, and definitely pick up the book at your local retailer.

Drake x Kanye x Lil Wayne x Eminem - Forever (Video)

Back to back music posts? Figured since I dropped the audio back in August, might as well keep it relevant and drop the video, via OnSmash. Um, is that SLAUGHTERHOUSE behind Em when he spits his verse? Yes it is.

I went a little hard on the audio when it first dropped, but at the time the hype was just SO CRAZY. Looking back, it is a good song, full of same nice quotable's.

EDIT: WOW!

TiRon- Throwing My Money

TiRon "Throwing My Money" [Official Video] from The Cafeteria Line on Vimeo.

I think A LOT of you guys can empathize with young TiRon's situation in the video above. It's hard to balance bills, loans, and FRESH KICKS!!!

*EDIT* Got a few requests for more from TiRon, so if you dug it, get his whole mixtape (Ketchup) here.

Fixed Magazine

I know I have a few Fixie fans out there. Check out the new issue of Fixed Magazine (FREE download) here.

Kaws x Clipse x Complex

Ok, so this is pretty much amazing. Kaws and the Clipse got together for the upcoming issue of Complex. Cover 2of 3 dropping tomorrow (same bat time, same bat channel). Ha, and you already know if these figures actually came out, they'd be on the counter next to my other James Jarvis, Kozik, and Kaws figures.

(Note: As always, click the image to see it in all its glory)

Nyala

No trip to Fairfax (home to Supreme,The Hundreds, Diamond Supply Co, The Reserve, etc), without a stop through the famed "Little Ethiopian District" just north of the 10 Freeway. A personal favorite of mine since being put up on game is Nyala. Don't let their website or the grainy image above fool you, this place is the hot spot. High quality, authentic, home-style cooking from a family owned resturant that has been in LA since 1988, you can't go wrong. Oh, and don't forget the Harrar!

Delonte West - Shooting Guard

Leave it to Dustin Canolin, the brain-child behind countless logos, and of course, his own brand, Undrcrwn, to create the image above after hearing about Delonte's arrest over the weekend for cutting off a police officer in a 3-wheeled motorcycle(while carrying a Berreta 9mm, Ruger .357, and having a shotgun in a guitar case strapped to his back). I guess Lebron isn't getting Delonte enough shots during the season?

The Hundreds - Fall Delivery (Part II)

Available at thier flagship stores in LA/SF, standard accounts worldwide, and of course, online. The flannel above is my personal favorite from the new line up, but check it out for yourself here.

Cool Cats x Starter

I've always been a fan of the Cool Cats logo, and it looks like they just collabed with Starter (of 90's snapback hat fame) for a pretty sweet logo hat. This one is going to cost you some change if you're interested (39 Euro), so you know how that goes.

F***ng Awesome x Mike Piscitelli

I'm not sure how I feel about this shoot...actually I do, and I'm not a fan. I get the message they are trying to convey, but from a marketing perspective, when you are selling a luxury product (lets face it, t shirts selling from $24-$34 each are wants, not needs), I'm not sure I would bring the less fortunate to the forefront in an ad campaign. Check the whole shoot here.

Kid Cudi - Man On the Moon - The End of Day

Creative. Refreshing. New. Dark. Thought-Provoking. Melodic. Just some of the words that come to mind after listening to Cudder's debut. Check Complex for a full review. Support GOOD music!

Kanye Apologizes for Taylor Swift Incident

Via his blog (which is down due to traffic), but check the screen print from Miss Info. You know Ye has the caplock key on deck, and there it is. I guess my conspiracy theory that it was staged to generate buzz was not on, check MTV's Recap on the incident for more.

Oh, and check this video (also courtesy of MI) if nothing else

Damien Fulton x Gasoline Art Gallery

"Pathetic Coast Highway" is currently showing at the Gasoline art gallery in El Segundo until Oct 3rd 2010. Check out a brief profile and 20 of Damian's paintings here, and make sure and listen to the commentary on each painting from the artist himself.

American Gods - Neil Gaiman

I know if its been a minute since the last installment of Silk's Book Club, but I think I've read about 15 Clive Cussler books straight, and didn't want to bore the "Oh Snaps" faithful. If you have an inkling for a good Adventure Novel, I recommend starting with INCA GOLD, which is my favorite thus far in my quest to take down every Dirk Pitt (the heroin of his stories, think of a Blue Collar James Bond) novel.

At any rate, I just finished "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. Not sure how to describe it, so let's just say its pretty Hipster. It's a blend of a few different genres (Fantasy, Americana, Science Fiction, Mythology), with a bit of adventure/mystery for kicks. I've never read a book like this, and it was pretty interesting. Read a synopsis somewhere online, and see if tickles your fancy.

The Hundreds x Lance Montoya

I was just having a conversation with one of my friends today, when I was telling him that he should stop by The Hundreds flagship store while in SF, and he initially replied, "Why, to buy some overpriced t-shirts?". I think we eventually came to the conclusion that its a "too each their own" type thing, where some people look at it as "I can get 3 t shirts at Target for the price of one shirt at The Hundreds", whereas other people may be looking to support a smaller company that produces all of their products in the US and doesn't get the same bulk discounts as larger corporations, or perhaps the message the clothes convey (California subculture/beachwear/skate wear/ode to punk & or hip hop roots), or maybe its the collaborations they put on with industry types, artists, musicians, or other talented individuals from all walks of life.

The image above depicts Lance “Link” Montoya putting the finishing touches on his "Self-Titled" collaborative sculpture that was then shot at the TH headquarters in LA, with additional graphics being added to the image to give it a 90's feel before being incorporated into a t-shirt. Why you ask? Because Lance Montoya was the artist responsible for all of the sculptures used in the original Primus album covers. Check TH site here for more background on the collab project, Montoya himself, and the overall process, and click here to see the final products, which are available today (9.10.09) at TH LA/SF/Online.

I honestly don't know of another brand that can utilize references from 90's hard core bands (above), classic early 2000's gangsta rap records, or everyone's favorite graphics from the 80's all so seamlessly.

Kid Cudi x BBgun

Sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes you see how drastically over priced things are. And the story goes, "In April of 2008, directing duo BBGUN - Alex Bergman and Maxim Bohichik - directed the original Day ‘N’ Nite video for an unsigned Kid Cudi with a budget of only $250 of their own money." Anyway, you can definitely see patterns of Cudi's visions that carried through each of the 3 versions.

The Stussy Style (LA Times Article - circa 1992)

I just stumbled on this excellent article on Stussy and their approach to the business/fashion/advertising.

Quote from the man himself, "We have no desire to get bigger," Stussy said, "no desire to open new accounts. And we feel we could continue doing business for many more years, sleep at night, enjoy kids growing up and not be a victim of our business. You've got to look 10 or 20 years down the road and nobody in America does. They just want the money now. They want instant gratification. But then they burn themselves out. This happens especially in the fashion industry."

Interesting that just on the Hundreds blog today, they were talking about how they were getting looked down on at Capsule by the higher-end, designer-lines, untel they had to remind others that they turn more down accounts then the fashionista brands. Crazy how the more things change, the more things stay the same. Definately a MUST read...

HUF x Nike Air Max 90 Current Huarache QS

I think we all remember what happened last time HUF and Nike collaborated (Hufquakes!). This time around the left the AM1 template in favor of the new Air Max 90 Huarache Hybrid. I expect these to sell out (and hit the secondary market with inflated prices) very quickly. Curious to see if the HUF on Fairfax in LA will get these or not...
