Warrior x Liverpool: 2013-2014 Kits

If you woke up early this morning, there was an hour and a half span that Liverpool sat all alone at the top of the EPL Standings after a 1-0 win over Stoke City. Hopefully we'll see a similar result at the end of the season. Above are the away kit and 3rd kit that Warrior Sports put together for the 2013-2013 campaign. The away kit was inspired by the 1981 LFC League Winners Cup shirt, and the 3rd kit was inspired by Space Invaders (kidding). You can purchase both kits, as well as their more traditional first kit, here. Don't sleep on the goalkeeper's 2nd kit either, I'm certainly not!

Control

Kendrick has really turned the streets, radio, and blogosphere upside down with his Control verse, and rightfully so. What has gotten most people riled up is mainly due to one of the following 3 items:  a) A kid from Compton just called himself the King of NY*,
b) Kendrick, with only 1 album in his discography, put himself in the same conversation as Jay-Z, Nas, Andre 3k, and Eminem, and
c) Kendrick called out all of his contemporaries, by name in his quest to raise the bar.

My favorite part of the verse is actually neither of the 3, but rather his closing bars, which you can read after the jump. Also, for those of you that aren't necessarily hip-hop heads or adept to listening to lyrics vs hearing them, you can check out Rap Genius for a breakdown of the lyrics.

 As you can imagine, rappers are coming out of the woodwork with their responses, but to date only two have really provided the lyricism to be discussed further, and those are the responses of Joell Ortiz and King Los. Listen to the entire original song here.

I busted my Tortoise "Enclave" sunglasses Monday, and I wasn't a happy camper. The glasses were cool, but I mainly just bought them to support a kid from Santa Barbara who was following his heart and releasing a pair of quality sunglasses with a good price point. I'm not going to knock the quality, because when you sit on a pair of sunglasses, rarely does anything good happen, but that being said, I'm going back to my timeless Oakley Frogskins, the tortoise pair pictured above to be specific. Naja's - 5th Annual IPA Festival

Naja's Place in Redondo Beach is just now winding down it's 5th annual IPA Festival. With over 88 taps, Naja's will always hold a special place in my heart as one of the few places with a great craft beer selection in Southern California before the scene started picking up in the last few years. For this event in particular, Naja's is featuring over 70 IPA's from around the country - and it's definitely worth taking in before it ends. Some of the highlights include:

The Civil Wars

Seeing as they are already Grammy award winning artists - I realize I am late to the party on this one - but I don't care, I'm just glad I'm here with my party pants on.

The Civil Wars are a music group that gets categorized as some sort of country / folk hybrid (although you couldn't tell from the picture above). I hate to compare artists because I feel like it robs them of their individuality, but if I had to, I would say The Civil Wars are a mash-up between The xx, The Lumineers, and Hang Dog Expression. Their last cd, Barton Hollow, is fantastic, and their self-titled follow-up is already pre-ordered on iTunes. Check 'em out after the jump.
