Sleepy Jones - Sock Collection

Sleepy Jones new socks collection is available now. On a related note - I'm thinking about switching up to plain black socks. How hipster is that?

*Fun fact - he sold the original piece of work used for movie poster for $150, and has no regrets.

American Apparel - Men's Suede Shoes

When I think of American Apparel, I think of basic t's and hoodies for guys and crazy hipster uniforms for chicks - but it looks like they are also stepping up their shoe game and have some good options available - from the suede buck pictured above (purchase here), to a few collaborations with Red Wing. Be on the lookout for these at your local AA Flagship.

Best Made Company - Seamless & Steadfast Enamel Steel Plates

There are certain companies whose name is a key-part of their branding (as an example - Fresh N' Easy sounds like how like my produce, and easy is how I like my shopping experience, so it makes perfect sense for a grocery store). In the streetwear game - I give the nod to Best Made Company out of New York - they only release a handfull of goods a year - with their collection spanning menswear, housewear, outdoor goods, and of course - real manly stuff like knives and axes. Anyway - currently working on convincing wifey we need these plates. Aside from being easy on the eyes, they are naturally built for the long haul. More specs below, and purchase here.

First featured in the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition of 1876, enamelware was touted to combine "all the advantages of glass with the strength of metal". Since then enamel tin and steel have long been favored by outdoorsmen and cowboys because it is light, durable and easy to clean. Our cups are dishwasher safe and can even be brandished over an open fire.

Our enamelware comes to us from a legendary European manufacturer, and using World War Two era machinery they bake our renowned "Famous X" and compass rose directly to the plate insuring a smooth, long-lasting, and seamless finish. But what truly distinguishes our enamelware is the heft and durability: the rim — the spot that gets the most abuse — is reinforced with a double dipping of enamel, and the steel itself is weighty (not flimsy and tinpot) all of which makes this the most steadfast plate in the land.

Penfield - 2 Tone Denim Shirt

And you thought the denim shirt was over? Penfield started off strong with the light/washed denim shirt offset with the dark pocket, but lost me with the wood buttons, overlay at the bottom, and back shoulder/elbow detailing. If it still has your interest though - purchase here.

Eastpak - Slapwell Backpack

Between the Hershel's, the Supreme's, the Yuketen's, the Southfresh's, and countless other brands that have had backpacks featured on OSTT - sometimes we forget about our roots. Too be honest, I completely forgot about Eastpak's whole existence until coming across this 3 min ad/documentary

Seattle-based Eastpak came from humble beginnings in 1952, being enlisted to create duffel bags for the US Army, before branching out to the students and outdoor lifestyle markets in the 80's and 90's. Eastpak is now re-emerging with an emphasis on being a lifestyle brand - having collaborations with designers such as Raf Simmons, Kenzo Minami , Kriss Van Assche, and many others. Check out Eastpak's website, you might be surprised to stumble on something you like.

I'm a big fan of this piece. Color block in the middle of the photo does it for me.

Best Made - Lightweight Waxed Cruiser

I'm liking this Best Made jacket quite a bit. Being born and raised in Southern California, I don't always appreciate goods built to sustain colder weather - but I'm digging the simplistic yet technical look on this functional jacket.

Designed and manufactured in New York City to the exacting standards of our consistent "Best Made Fit", this jacket is built for three seasons of wear and tear, and decades of immunity from the elements. This jacket is as much at home in the backwoods, as it is on Broadway; it is a timeless number that checks all the right boxes: English moleskin collar, pockets, and trim, reinforced brass shanks, locker hang loop, six pockets including back game pockets, and a versatile 80-20 blend of breathable American cotton and nylon. Perfect for layering up underneath, or just throwing on over a button down.

Supreme x Misfits

Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey by singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig; The Misfits® are an American rock band often recognized as the founders of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk rock and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. They released the "Horror Business" single in June 1979, the cover of which featured a skeletal figure inspired by a poster for the 1946 film serial The Crimson Ghost. The skeletal figure became a mascot for the band.

The Misfits® disbanded in 1983 and Danzig went on to form Samhain and then the eponymously-named Danzig. Several albums of reissued and previously unreleased material were issued after the group's dissolution, and their music became influential to punk rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock music of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Supreme has come together with The Misfits® this season to present a small capsule collection. The group will consist of a Trench Coat, Short Sleeve Button-Down Shirt, Crewneck Sweatshirt, L/S Sleeve Tee, three Graphic T-Shirts, 5-Panel Hat, Pins and a Bic® Lighter. All items have been designed using original artwork from The Misfits®. This group will be offered along with three new original graphic T-Shirts for the Spring Delivery.

APC Denim Challenge

Back at the end of last year, I alluded to a 2013 APC denim challenge that myself and a couple of buddies were doing. Well, we are more than 100 days in to the year, and we have our first casualty. There are conflicting theories as to what exactly happened - a combination of skateboarding home mixed with enlarged thigh muscles from Insanity workouts, or sizing down one too many sizes to get the desired fit. Regardless, my buddies jeans are getting fixed up as we speak.

Cicada - Leather Mason Jar Coozy

So the story goes - the other night my wife was at work and found this item on her lunch break that she really wanted to buy. Problem was, there was only 1 left and she didn't have to create account and buy it before she had to get back to the grind. She sent me a link and asked me to create an account and pick it up for her. What is the site you ask? Etsy. "Wait, isn't this the home-made craft store that is built by women for women? Whatever." Purchased her the wallet she wanted, and started looking around. Stigma be damned, there is actually some pretty cool stuff on there worthy of checking out. I stumbled on this brand, Cicada, while perusing. Specializing in simple, minimalistic leather products hand made right here in the US - you know I'm in, and had to share.

Other quality goods from Cicada for sale:
Snap-hook leather key chain
Pencil/Pen/Sunglasses Case
Leather Bike Pant Strap
Screw it - just check the whole shop here.

Spring Breakers x Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony put a collection together inspired by Harmony Korine's Spring Breaker movie (aka the movie that Tumblr going nuts). The collection does a great job of capturing the essence of the movie, which features the artistic talents of Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, James Franco, Gucci Mane, and many more*. How'd they pull it off? Having the costume designer of the flick (Heidi Bivens) create the line certainly helps. Check out the lookbook here, and more pics after the jump.

*Sidebar - why haven't we invented a font for sarcasm yet? It would really make electronic communication a lot easier in times like this.

Solarsoft Mocassin - Tarp Green/Volt

The last two pairs of kicks I've bought, Roshe's and Solarsoft Mocassin's, are both some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned (along with Presto's and the Free's when they first arrived on the scene). Looks like Nike and NSW might start getting creative with Solarsoft template if the pair above is any indicator of the future.

The Hundreds x Grateful Dead

In The Hundreds latest collaboration project coming straight out of left field, they get down with legendary rock crew Grateful Dead on a line of shirts, hats, sweatshirts, and shoes. Check out the entire collection here.

Tie-die sure came back to the mainstream with a vengeance, didn't they? As much as I'd like to give credit to a certain friend's ex girlfriend, who made me and the crew quite a few for a special event a couple years back, I think someone else may have set this off. Pictures after the jump.

NIKEiD Presents - Air Roshe

This is the moment a lot of us have been waiting for - the Air Roshe's are now available on NIKE iD! While iD vets were certainly expecting a generous price hike for the ability to fully customize a pair of Roshe's -  a $55 mark-up on what was a $65 shoe is a bit steep in my eyes. Let's see if Nike adds some additional colors as the seasons change, or offer some more premium materials in the not so distant future.

Grind London - Badman Attire

That's Badman attire, not Batman attire. Now that we've got that out of the way - I'm a little confused as to why it took Grind London so long to get on my radar - but I'm glad they are now. Judging from what I've seen thus far - this brand seems to fall inline somewhere in between APC and Supreme - and that's some damn good company.

50 Things You Didn't Know About Stussy

The good folks over at Complex put together a list of the 50 Things You Didn't Know about Stussy. Being a Stussy head, a lot of these were on my radar - but one fact in particular caught me by surprise. Shawn Stussy's original partner (and still owner to this day) Frank Sinatra Jr. (no relation) - was a CPA for the first 10 years of his career prior to partnering up with Mr. Stussy. Interesting.

Juxtaposse - Driftwood Salon

Juxtaposse had a dope show out in San Francisco that has since passed, but I was such a fan of the work I had to share. Driftwood Salon's Juxtaposse show featured works from Robert Bowen, Lisa Alonzo, Lee Harvey Roswell, Albert Reyes, Renee Castro, and Carly Ivan Garcia - and was focused around work completed on, you guessed it, drift wood. Check out more from the show opening here.

How hipster is that piece above? Native American headdress, PBR, Amiercan Spirits, Tatoo's, and Nudity. Coachella, here we come.
