Odd Future - Golf Wang Shirt

You've heard the music.
You've seen the videos.
You've read about the industry co-signs.
You've followed my tweets about Earl Sweatshirt being the best young rapper since NaS dropped Illmatic (Speaking of which, some of you took the #freeearl campaign to new heights).

Love 'em or hate 'em - there is no in between with the OFWGKTA crew. My thoughts? I typically support any music crew that is from the West and pushing boundries/doing something different. The fact that I've I'd numerous run-ins with them over at Fairfax before they blew and they exuded the same care-free "IJDGAF" attitude they do now in their music and interviews - I'm a fan.

Kind of went off on a tangent there - but the point of this post was to say they just release some official shirts/merchandise you can cop here. Support the future, Odd as it may be.

Consequence | Movies on Demand 3 (Preview)

I'm going to leave this up to your interpretation.... Could be a hoax could be quite interesting. I wish this would really happen soon I know for a fact the game has a lot of secrets and shadiness going on. Someone has the balls.... WAITING!

Adam Kimmel - Bandana Roll-Up Shirt

Fresh off his collaboration projects with Supreme and George Condo, Adam Kimmel puts out these new shirts. Basic T's with SiLK lining on the sleeves for a little 'pop'. I'm on the fence with these. Worn with some raw denim and vans or basic khaki's and boat shoes, you could probably pull it off - but in my opinion - these are just a little "too much'. More pics via High Snobiety.

Norse Projects x Yakari Hotta

Norse Projects collaborated with various artists (Yukari Hotta, Misaki Kawai and Husk Mit Navn) on a series of 3 shirts aptly entitled, "Love You Japan". Nike Air Max Light - Black Denim

All black kicks rarely do the trick for me - but these black/black/sky blue Nike Air Max Light's are the business! Featuring a denim upper and toe box, along with a rubber midsole and leather swoosh. More pics over at SneakerNews.

Bape - Denim/Leather Wallet

I'm liking this BAPE bi-fold wallet a lot. Raw denim exterior, offset with premium leather interior featuring 3 card slots and a change purse. Wish they would have released this back in February so it could have been in the 2011 Wallet review I did! Regardless - look for this word to drop at select BAPE retaliers shortly. Nike Air Max 360 Low - Limeade

I've only heard good things about about the Nike Air Max 360 when it comes to actual shoes to ball in - haven't had a chance to wear them in a bball game yet though. Haven't seen any colorways that I absolutely need - but if these shoes ever come on ID - its over.

LRG Summer 2011 Lookbook

In the early 2000's, LRG was THE brand that caught on. Urban and hip enough to be worn by and advocated by the 'trendy celebs', upscale enough to be sold at Bloomingdales. The brand subsequently jumped the shark and relied too heavily on loud graphics and over-branding, but have made a return to their simpler times of late. Their current cookbook for Summer 2011 features Oh Snaps favorite Freddie Gibbs (uh, did you hear his verse on Scottie Pippen from Curren$y's new mixture? Fire), Tommy Sandoval and Kelly Hart from the LRG skate team, and Double O from Kidz in the Hall. Check it out at Hypebeast

Herschel

A lot of people have been talking about Hershel bags of late- but in my opinion, its all for the wrong reasons. Rather than talking about how the Canadian Company has been consistently making quality products with basic but innovative designs (check the shoe pocket above) - people are talking about their recent collaborations with a big player in the game. With Hershel, it's all bout the attention to detail (pinstripe lining, leather ascents, fleece-lined sunglasses pockets, and so much more. Do your self a favor and check out some history on the Company below - as well as the store and current lookbook.

The story of Herschel begins in the early 1900’s, in Wick, Scotland. Peter Alexander Cormack, a barrel maker by trade, and his wife Annie packed the belongings of their small home in preparation for the long journey across the Atlantic to Canada. The government of the time was enticing families to immigrate through the homestead program. They gave these families land to farm, to support the growth of the country. The land that Peter and Annie were given saw them settle in the beautiful rolling hills outside of the town of Herschel, whose population today is counted at 30 residents.

Over a century after that move, Peter and Annie’s great grandchildren remain in the business of manufacturing. Instead of barrels, backpacks and bags are now created. Herschel Supply Co. was started with the goal of bringing well-designed quality built product to market. Inspiration is drawn from vintage mountaineering, American heritage, world travel and fashion. Herschel reinvents these products with modern shapes, fits and feels, with fine regard for detail. Our product endeavors to compliment the consumer's passion for individuality and personal style in a new way. Herschel is about our past, present and future. We are creating an environment that supports the new generation of fashion forward individuals.

Haven't got a chance to listen to this bad boy yet but I like Fab and any hip hop called soul tape should be decent in my opinion. Plus who doesn't like new music that's free? Check it out!

Obligatory Kanye/Yeezy 2 Post

When it comes to fashion - Kanye has always been one to march to the beat of his own drum. Although there have been some mishaps, I would say that overall, Kanye (along with Pharrell) is one of the few taste makers (in music) when it comes to young men's fashion - and hey, you win some, you lose some.

That being said - I was a little shocked to see that 'Ye rocked a shirt from Celine's Spring 2011 WOMEN's line (pic via Coco and Creme, who also have a great write-up/article in Kanye's defense). I'm not knockin' the man - I mean hey, I'd do the same with a pair of kicks - I'm just not on quite the same stage as 'Ye - literally or figuratively. At the end of the day, the performance was epic (see the Kanye set from Coachella in its entirety after the jump), the print on the shirt blouse tunic was dope (I'm not a fan of the cut though), and for all you sneaker heads out there, you can catch a better glimpse of the Nike Yeezy 2 (also after the jump).

Nike Lunar Flow - Nate Van Hook/Bruce Kilbore Interview

Nate Van Hook (Nike Sportswear Designer) and Bruce Kilbore (Original designer of the Nike Air Flow) take you behind the scenes during the discussion related to the Nike Air Flow (circa 1988) - and the groundwork it laid for the Nike Air Huarache, Presto, and Free, in addition to the current model NSW is pushing, the Nike Lunar Flow, which is heavily inspired by the Nike Air Flow with updated technology. Check out video behind the design process after the jump.

Air Jordan VII's - Bordeaux

Did everybody get out of bed early this morning and cop those Jordan VII Bordeaux's? I passed due to my affection for low top kicks - but almost copped them strictly in honor of this MJ vs MJ moment. Select retailers still have some available, but they are selling QUICK - and I would be surprised if any are still available after this weekend. Video for JAM after the jump.

MC BART (Vintage T)

When I was a young'n, I would hit up the Roadium Swap Meet with my grandparents on a weekly basis.     I don't know why they went so frequently, or what exactly we were looking for, but I was 5 - and every time we went, I got to pick out a present - so you can image no questions were asked on my side. Most of the time - the gift I'd pick would be some action figure or back of basketball cards, but every now and then, I'd come up on a cool shirt. The thing about the Roadium is its not exactly sanctioned - so the bootlegging was in full force. The Simpsons were the hot ticket back then, so shoes, toothbrushes, candy, toys - you name it, you could find a Simpsons version of it. My personal favorite - then and now, were the un-licensed shirts. Nike, Jordan, MC Hammer - a copyright was not an issue at Roadium, so the possibilities were limitless. Anyway, just took this shirt over at eBay, and had to take a short trip down memory lane.  Purchase here if interested.

Freshjive - Spring 2011

When Freshjive first announced that they were removing themselves from their namesake, 'logo' and 'branding' back in 2009, I was a little concerned for them - I thought it was a really dope undertaking - to remove themselves from the concept of branding altogether - but I wondered if they were going to get lost in the shuffle. More than a year in to it - I can say that they have successfully pulled it off. By making their gear less brand-centric - they have really been able to focus on their designs. My personal biggest draw to their new style hasn't been in the look at all - but rather, the quality. Softer blanks used for T's. Better fit on the cut 'n sew. Greater attention to detail. Rick Klotz - keep doing it. View the Spring collection here.

Fabolous | Look At Her (Feat Neyo & Ryan Leslie) BTS + Song

Ryan Leslie always comes through this is part 2 to You Be Killin' Em which was a dope track in my opinion that was slept on. Always dig seeing Ryan in the studio! Fab does his thing. Enjoy!

Stussy Women - Spring 2011 Continued

Stussy Woman's just dropped some images from Part II of their Spring Delivery. Geometrical shapes with a a Native American twist seems to be the theme again, consistent with Part I. Collection includes swimsuits, summer dresses, short/jumpsuits, and dare I say, jean overalls? Ok then. After the jump, watch behind-the-scenes footage from the photoshoot, shot by Shaniqua Jarvis.

New York native Jarvis, who has spent the last five years living between Los Angeles and London, gives us a behind the scenes look infused with a hyper-real summer day. The mood was inspired by movement, colors and textures that capture the essence of Stussy and Southern California. - STUSSY

LaLaWag - Blogger Spotlight

So the good folks over at lalawag reached out to me about doing an interview as part of their LA Blogger Spotlight, and who am I to turn down such an honor? I don't typically step from 'behind' the computer screen and talk about myself or the crew on here - but I have to admit, it was fun, and hopefully it provides some insight for you, the reader!

This whole blog/website thing has been a lot of fun over the years, and as I mentioned awhile back - we're not stoppin' anytime soon. We have a lot of exciting things planned in the future that I'd rather not talk about until the pieces fall in place - but in the meantime in between time, definitely stay tuned!

I guess the purpose of this entry is really just to thank you guys for showing support over the years. Hopefully you guys have picked up a thing or two that you've seen featured on here, found a new musician that you've become a fan of, or were just able to appreciate some pictures of some really cool products! Whatever it has that has you guys coming back time and time again, I'm glad that you do. Special shout-out to the crew (PC, 83out, OSTT), and everyone else that has been checkin' in or contributing in one way or another since day 1 (J-Hop, Mike, Drew, Jeff, Aaron, Gabe - and many more). I appreciate you all.

Nike Air Max 1 - "Milky"

Asphalt Grey, Cream, and White colorway of the famed Nike Air Max 1's are looking good. Unfortunately, these are a Woman's only release - but let's be honest, its not like the fella's out there have never added +2 to their shoe size and copped kicks made for chicks before, right. Right? Oh its just me? Nevermind then. Um - cop "your girl" a pair here. Pic via Hypebeast.

Donnis | Southern Lights (Mixtape)

With a opening by Big Rube who does all of the Outkast openings how can you fail? The beats are dope rapping is okay but worth the free download check it out!

Thorocraft - The Ross

My boy Drew put me on to Thorocraft - and I have to be honest - with a name that sounds more like a 3rd rate video game than a maker of quality footwear - I was hesitant to check them out. The old adage about not being able to judge a book by its cover rings true in this case. After looking over their models available- I was quickly impressed. However, once I got to the Ross (pictured above) - the search stopped. A classic dress shoe silholouette, with a toe box (close-up) that provides just enough old man swag for any occassion calling for dress shoes - I was instantly a fan. Other details include:

*High Quality Bison Leather
*Hand Stiched Sole
*Rubber Heal Strike
*Suede Interior Backing

Check the details for yourself - and if interested, purchase here. At the end of the day, even Sneakerheads need to put down the Nikes and dress up from time to time, and when that time comes, Thorocraft is a step in the right direction.

Us Versus Them - Spring/Summer

Us Versus Them out of Temecula, CA just unleashed their Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook, and all of the hand-drawn goods are available now in-store and online.  While on the topic of Us Versus Them, have you seen the shirt they did for Coachella this year? Check the write-up from the UVT guys on the effort below:

"For the most part, the projects we get involved in or set up are sprung from our everyday lives or our friends around us. It’s all borne out of the anti-cynical idea of having fun with what we do. We set up art projects with friends because they inspire us. We made our bike frame because it was what we want to ride. So when co-founder Mike Glory told us we were presented with the opportunity to design a collaborative shirt for Coachella this year it required little thought on our end. Having been in attendance nearly every single year since it’s inception, we’ve been witness to the growth and changes, not only that the actual event has gone through, but it’s place in the cultural landscape. Harking back to music festivals of decades past, it ushered in and made viable the idea of mixing modern independent rising music acts with established headliners and reuniting cult acts from the past.
So when it came down to coming up with a concept, we decided to take a cue from the past and do a classic rock poster style design, but with a decidedly modern twist. Using our crosscut logo as the starting point, the standard palm tree was replaced by a date palm, which is a main crop in the Coachella Valley. Our machete was replaced by drumsticks. The acid trip lettering was replaced by a stylized pixaçao rendition of Coachella. All hand drawn, take a look."

Take a look at the shirt, and video of the creative process - after the jump.

Edwin - Spring 2011

Picture above is Gilbert Forte, shot by Jacob Breinholt, for the Edwin Spring/Summer 2011 lookbook - and is far and away my favorite shot from the collection. The way everything in this ensemble compliment's each other is pretty extraordinary, and in my mind - no additional words needed. Check out the complete set of photo's via High Snobiety.

Nike - Stefan Janoski (Sport Red, Light Blue)

I respect everything that P.Rod has done for the skateshoe game, but in this man's humble opinion - the Zoom Stefan Janoski is hands down the BEST Nike SB line of all time. A simple Google Images search bring up all of the colorways to date, and honestly - I've been a fan of most of them. Sturdy enough (without being bulky) to skate in, while remaining stylish enough to wear out with a clean pair of jeans. In my opinion, you can't can't go wrong with a versatile pair of kicks like these folks.

ALDO - Spring/Summer 2011

I don't think I've ever featured ANY products from Aldo on here before - but this bright and playful lookbook, shot by the renowned Terry Richardson, caught my eye. Featuring shoes for both men and women (boat shoes for the former, wedges and platforms for the latter) - and at a price point that doesn't break the bank - you can't go wrong. Check out the promo video as well as additional photo's, over at the Hypebeast.

Stussy - Women's Spring 2011

I realize I haven't been posting much for the ladies of late - and by "for the ladies", I mean gear for the ladies, not eye-candy, haha. Stussy recently dropped their Spring/Summer collection for Women, and we can all appreciate some throwback Stussy looks for ladies, right? Now, whether you want to cop some gear for your lady, or just want to appreciate some cool photography of girls wearing Stussy - check out the collection  here.

Pharell | Game Has Changed (No Tags)

I know I'm a little late, but I do remember when this Tron soundtrack came out and I think I tweeted about remixing this song to a dope beat to rap to. Not trying to give myself credit but my music ear is the same when it comes to what artist are hearing, releasing and doing videos to. Makes me wonder... Anyways Pharell blesses us with a killer track. Enjoy!

OK - so this may not be the most stylish collection of T-shirts you've seen featured on the site, but sometimes the cause outweighs the product. Ronny Turiaf, former Gonzaga Bulldog, LA Laker, and all around good dude, is releasing two shirts to support his Heart to Heart Foundation. Read more info below.
On July 26, 2005, Ronny Turiaf underwent a successful six-hour open-heart surgery at Stanford Medical Center. Four years later, inspired by his experience, he started the Heart to Heart Foundation to spread heart health awareness and education to underprivileged children and families. Teaming up with former Gonzaga classmate Annie Hawkins (who played soccer for the University), the two are now working together to spread the word with a special t-shirt collection.
“The success that manifests from a project is always a direct correlation of the talent and character within the people that help the idea become a reality,” says Hawkins, who also designed the tees. “Thanks to Ronny for believing in my idea and giving me the opportunity to see it out.”
Ronny speaks five languages fluently, so the first shirt has “HEART” written in English, French, Spanish, Italian and Creole. The second shirt features his jersey number and patented beard.

Adam Kimmel

After the recent collaboration with Supreme - Adam Kimmel, the designer from New York, has been getting quite a bit of attention from the streetwear scene, but this isn't his first rodeo, in fact he's been pushing boundries since 2005. More recently, in 2011 he collaborated with another favorite in the scene - Carhatt - and for his Fall/Winter 2010 lookbook - utilized the artwork (masks) of none other than than George Condo (pictured above). What I like about Adam Kimmel's collections is the versatility - No jacket has looked as good as his reversible suit coats since Will Smith first moved out to Bell Air. Check out the images from his most recent collection, Spring/Summer 2011, here.

Nonnative - Spring/Summer 2011

I was perusing some of the other brands out there recent collections - and stumbled on this Nonnative Spring/Summer collection. After checking it out, my initial thoughts are:

1. Kind of have a J.Crew feel - a bit more 'worldly' though.
2. The dude used in the lookbook kind of looks like Shawn Chrystopher - which reminds me, Shawn Chrys recently dropped his latest effort, IWG III, which you can download now for free, over at Honor Role. I loved Shawn Chrystopher's first effort - A City with No Seasons, but feel like he's been struggling a bit to find his lane since then, and haven't been enamored with his more recent efforts. I am really looking forward to checking this one out though. Give it a listen - and share your thoughts via Twitter.
