NBA DRAFT - 2006

I think I'll leave this up to my boy Bill Simmons...Check his "Draft Diary X" at ESPN)

THE HUNDREDS Summer Collection

Looks like the friendly folks over at (The Hundreds)released their '06 Summer Line...

They have their usual HOT tee's, but also through in some jeans, shorts, and cut&sew items. They are doing it big this time around.

Here is my personal favorite tee of the collection. If you are from Southern Cali and this shirt doesn't take you back, i don't know what will. Crazy Collab shirt with Steve Nazar (the artist for T&C back in the day) Picture and description courtesty of (Digital Gravel)(where you can cop this shirt and the rest of the collection! don't sleep though, we all know The Hundreds stuff sells out QUICK)

'Surf Wars' t-shirt
Artist Steve Nazar is known for the most recognizable t-shirt graphics from ’80s surf culture. This summer, The Hundreds worked with him on two parody graphics that are based off of some of the most iconic tees from our Southern Cali childhood, with a contemporary L.A. subculture twist, this being the second...featuring a dope original illustration of crazy LAish characters all riding the same wave. Dope bright colors for the front logo print too.

I don't know what it is about the pin stripes, but I'm a fan. Whether its shirts, dress pants, or these sick new Nike Blazers, pin stripes do the trick.

Giullen has words for Jay Mariotti

OK...so Giullen called Mariotti a f***in f*g. Fast Forward a bit, naturally Guillen has to apologize before he feels the wrath of MLB, and this is where it get's interesting.

"Guillen defended his use of the term "fag" by saying this about homosexuals and the use of the word in question: "I don't have anything against those people. In my country, you call someone something like that and it is not the same as it is in this country.'' Guillen said that in his native Venezuela, that word is not a reference to a person's sexuality, but to his courage."

It continues on with BY FAR the best defense to being homophobic I ever heard in my life:

"Guillen also told Couch (the interviewer) that he has gay friends, attends WNBA games, went to a Madonna concert and plans to go to the Gay Games in Chicago."

Thanks to my boy Brian's research, you can check out the website for the "Chicago Gay Games" for yourself(here)(its worth it for the logo alone)

Story via (ESPN)

"I brought one suit, one shirt, one tie."

Riley brought one outfit to Dallas for game 6. That means a lot coming from a guy like Riley. He exudes smoothness, even as his age slides up on him. The confidence of Riley trickled down to the rest of the HEAT, who refused to get rattled during the MAVS strong runs in the first half. Still can't beleive the Heat are champs. I need to give a HUGE shout out to Antoine Walker and Jason Kapono for finally getting those elusive rings. In all seriousness, I'm real happy for GP, he was always one of my favorite guards growing up. Riley was awesome; Shaq, although slowly becoming a shell of his former self, was Shaq, and D-Wade showed everybody what Flash was about. Looking forward to next years NBA Finals aka Shaun Livingston's coming out party (OK fine, Elton Brand's).

Sick Lmt Edn Etnies...

Wait, did I just type that? Anyway, check em out below via HypeBeast

"Here’s a look at a couple shoes from Etnies’ new E collection. The shoes are the “Special Make Up,” with exclusive colors and completely different materials (such as zebra fur, and woven leather as pictured above). This collection is very limited and will be available exclusively at the worlds best skate shops and boutiques. The shoes are currently for men only, but the womens collection is due out for Spring 2007."

Game 6 Tonight

What a turn of events. 0-2 to 3-2 in the blink of an eye. I still don't feel that confident in Miami's chances, but we'll see if they come out with a killer extinct tonight (something I feel they've been lacking). I would love to see my man GP get a ring and Shaq and Riley get another (although something about Antoine Walker getting one irks me).

Regardless, here is a little blurb posted on the Dallas Morning News Blog via DimeMag regarding the Howard/Avery/Ref timeout debacle....

“A Poem of Disappointment for Howard.”

Your vigor and speed prove skill indeed
clutch shots in the hole add grandeur.
Stealthily placed, your shots make hearts race,
explosive runs leave but a blur.
But with just :56, your mind was a mix,
Concentration a must for F.T’s
A miss brought us down, but the second a frown
And the call for T.O. bore unease.
Two games ago, I shopped for J. Ho
on a jersey to capture my merry
But Game 5 has wrought tears, and now I do fear
That I should have bought one with J. Terry.

WESTCOAST STAND UP!!

It took awhile, but Chamillionaire's WestCoast remix to "ridin dirty" has finally dropped, featuring none other than Dj Quik and The Game.

Cvrle from DubCnn (thanks!) went ahead and mixed in the freestyle from the next WestCoast Superstar, Crooked I, to make this thing unbelievable.

Check it out via dubcnn

Quick sidenote...who remembers when Loon dropped the regional remixes for his song "how u want that" ? At least Bad Boy tweaked the beat up a bit for those...then again, what would Ridin' Dirty be without the harmony and beat?

JJ Redick busted for DWI

Great, just what the Dukies need, more 'good' press to keep everyone in a huffy.

I had high hopes for JJ going at #8 to the Rockets to play with my boy Skip, now we'll see if he even cracks the lottery (8 was awfully high to begin with, but hey...)

Check the story @ ESPN

Now, I'm not the smartest man in the world (what up Drew!), but I'd like to think that busting an illegal u-turn right before a DUI checkpoint would probably draw a little attention to you. I'm not suggesting trying to get by on your 'fame', but he is a recognizable face, and cops don't always play fair, why not try and play it cool and see if you can slide by? Of course, because Redick cracks under pressure (As a Duke fan, I can say that, look at his NCAA tourney numbers)

Maybe now everyone will lay off my boy Daniel Ewing?

Back For the First Time

So its been quite some time huh? I had a blog back in 04 while I was still doing the college thing, but like college itself, all great things must come to an end . So just in time for summer, I'm back for more. This time, I promise I'll update more (but that could just be due to the fact I'm in between tests right now and work isn't too hectic).

So, for a brief synopsis on why I'm back,I've been reading a lot of blogs lately, mainly on sports, kicks, streatwear, music, and pop-culture. I haven't really found one that combines all of my interests, which I guess would be all 5 (Don't get it twisted, I have other interests, namely friends, gf, and family, but if you are interested in that personal kind of stuff, peep out the MySpace blog.)

I'm going to keep it short and sweet, share the goods the best I can, and try and keep you all intrested. If worse comes to worse, I've always got an archive full of the stuff I like, so it's a win-win for me.

Until next time,

Silk
