In truth - I can say that they make great 'green'/sustainable products with natural ingredients, all of which are nearly 100% biodegradable. Nike Flyknit Chucka - Wolf Grey

So yesterday, my wife comes home from work with a funny story. It all started when she spotted a fellow nurse rockin' a pair of Flyknits.

Wife: Nice Flyknits! How do you like them?
Nurse friend: Oh, I love them. My husband bought himself a pair, kept raving about them, and then bought me a matching pair.
Wife: That's so sweet. My husband bought himself a pair to run in, and liked them so much he bought himself another pair to wear to work.

Whoops.

Brothers Marshall - Summer 2013

Some of my favorite gear from Warriors of Radness were their shorts, but in a close 2nd were their simple 'logo' wear inspired in the true 80's surf style - simple small chest graphic with the same image repeated (and larger) on the back. WOR seemed to have jumped the shark (still advertising Spring 2013? No more online store?) - but Brothers Marshall took the baton and ran with it. They look like a pair I'd be super stoked to get and buy them thinking I could tone them down with raw denim and a plain grey/black/white tee (but never would). They look like a pair I'd obsess over until their release date (but then keep under my bed in the box because I'd never want them to get messed up). They look like a pair that with much insistence from the wife and reluctance on my part, I'd just end up selling them on eBay (for a profit). 15 Reasons You'll Never Be To Old To Be a Sneakerhead

Over the last couple years, I've gone back and forth on 'retiring' from Sneakerhead status. I've been purging the closet and putting pair after pair of unworn kicks up for sale - mainly because they just don't get the burn they used to. While there is a huge market for the shoes I'm selling and I'm pulling a profit on every pair, that's not the intent. I'm mainly just trying to make room in my closet for the kicks that do get worn, and give kids a chance to get their hands on some classic runners or old Jordan's that are a bit too out there for me to wear to work (even in a casual atmosphere).

Tastes evolve, and while I'll never part with some of my favorite Air Max 1's, 90's, Presto's, etc - I am bringing in some 'new' models in the mix - Roshe's, Free's, and Flyknits, all of which will remain in the closet for years to come. Anyway, excuse the rant. Just came across an article on Complex on aging sneakerheads, and on top of that it's my buddies' son's first birthday party today (and its a sneaker party!) so it was fresh on the mind.

Iron & Resin - Cooper Boardshort

Made a trip out to to the Channel Islands/Ventura area a couple weeks ago to visit a buddy - and was quite fond of what we found in the area - good breweries, lot of funky antique/thrift shops, nice eateries, urban coffee spots, and surf shops on (or right off) the main drag. Back in my college days at Santa Barbara, Ventura had a bad rap - but being out there exploring, I can really say there it has a lot to offer.

One of my favorite stores we stumbled in was Iron & Resin's The Garage (read their mission statement after the jump - but Iron & Resin is the brand, and The Garage is their flagship store that also features complimentary brands - read up on The Garage here). Iron & Resin products are all made in California and compliment the surfer/biker/farm aspects that all are a part of Ventura's past (and present). Vans Classics - "Van Doren" Fall 2013 Collection

I'm bummed. I know we all love the Van Doren line of Vans and look forward the project dropping each season, but I don't know what message they are trying to send here. Memorial Day just passed, and the Fall 2013 line-up is already available?!

Kidding aside, the line-up is strong. Aside from the maze print above, the aloha/checker print is another one to look out for. High Snobiety has a preview of the entire collection.

Game of Thrones - 90's Prints by Mike Wrobel

I don't know if I'm more excited about these Game of Thrones prints inspired by the 90's/grunge era - or the fact that I got my hands on a bottle of the Ommegang "Iron Throne Blonde Ale" today (picture after the jump). Actually, I do. I'm more excited about the beer, no offense Mike. Cheers!
