New Music (Happy Bday Pac!)

I know its been a minute since I had a "new music" post, and I think it's only right that I go ahead and proceed to give you guys a music update on the birthday of the legendary 2Pac (who would have been 39 years young today) - so here is a sample of some of the goodness I've been playing the last few weeks.

1. TiRon - Mustard. Now, I know a lot of you fell in love with the kid after I posted his video for "Throwin' My Money, his ode to spending his last dollars on the freshest sneakers, and then flocked like feathers to dl his "Ketchup" mixtape. Please believe me when I say his skills as an MC have increased by leaps and bounds (and he's slowly finding his own sound, and coming off a little less "Kanye on College Dropout-esque"). You'll still get the same low key flow and everyday subject matter you came to expect after his first go around, but a little more polished. If you don't want to download off of our word, then preview one of my favorite tracks, Boys & Girls on YouTubehere. Free legal download here.

2. Chiddy Bang - Ok, rappin' over electronica/upbeat beats is nothing new, but this Philly duo has the style on lockdown, similar to another Oh Snaps favorite - Theophilus London (yes, that was a link to his best mixtape if you originally slept on that). Chiddy Bang first crept on to the Oh Snaps radar back in 2009 with their first mixtape - Swelly Express, which featured their song/video - The Opposite of Adults (Kids) featuring the MGMT sample. Well they recent dropped a quick 7 song mixtape, The Air Swell Express, paying homage to their overseas fans. Another mixtape that I would NOT sleep on.

3. Bruno Mars - It's Better if You Don't Understand. Our Boy Bruno Mars (aka the Hipster Nate Dogg), has a 4 song EP available on iTunes right now for a measley $3.96. If you aren't familiar with his work (sang the hook on B.O.B's hit, "Nothin on You", as well as Travie McCoy's smash, "Billionaire"), he shows his range on this short collection. Click here to check my favorite track - Count on Me. I'm looking forward to big things from Bruno Mars in the future. As an added bonus, click here to check out his promotional mixtape for free, and if you dig, go big and purchase his EP from iTunes.

4. Ratatat - Remixes Part I and Part II. Yes, this is the same indie/electronic group that Kid Cudi featured on his LP last year on my favorite track, Pursuit of Happiness. They stripped down the vocals of hits from artists such as Jay-Z, Missie, B.I.G, Bun B, Wu Tang, Beanie, and many others, and added live instruments to change it up a bit. Here is Ratatat's remix to 'Diamonds' by Kanye West to preview. These mixtapes are pretty old, but you should be able to find a link on google if you're interested.

5. YG - The Real 4Fingaz. Ok, I pretty much am just putting this out there to show the young MC from Compton some love and help promote artists from California, but you can download his free promotional mixtape at Dubcnn. Check YG rockin over a Big Pun (RIP) here. Man, some of these new cats are so young they could be Dr. Dre's grandson.

Speaking of Dre, the looooooooooong awaited single from Dr. Dre's infamous next cd, Detox, leaked today (Under Pressure, featuring Jay-Z). Check it out over at Miss Info's spot. Song is eh after a few listens, but I'll never sleep on any product that Dr. Dre actually releases, so that's that.
