Just a friendly reminder that freedom isn't free - and a lot of great people have sacrificed their lives (literally and figuratively) for this country. Have a safe Memorial day - and Thank You to all the soldiers out there.

When I was in middle school (shoot, high school even), back when the internet was still in its infancy stage, there wasn't really a "go to" location for checking out gear. My main two sources were Eastbay catalogs, which were like gold, and surfer and bodyboarding magazines (living in a beach community, our middle school library subscribed to both). I remember checking out the ads in the mags (not just the classic Reef ads, either), and always being disappointed when our local surf stores didn't have the product I wanted. Anyway, I was down in San Diego, and was checking out a magazine, and stumbled on a brand from San Clemente that I hadn't previously heard of - Catch Surf. Not sure if their Beater logo drew me in, or again, the use of Bodyboards in the ad, but it was enough to get me to check out their gear online. Long story short - they have some dope gear that bring my back to the simpler times with surf shirts of old. Check it out (more after the jump).

There have been rumors for months and months - but finally its a reality. Reebok has re-released the classic first signature shoe of Allen Iverson - the Questions. This shoe brings me back to 8th grade (damn - just dated myself) - and I'm pumped that it re-released. Nice Kicks had an excellent interview with Todd Krinsky, Reebok's VP, which is DEFINITELY worth a read. It covers AI's involvement in the process, career highlights, plans for the shoe, and overall legacy. Oh, and don't think there weren't some #Shotsfired with this quote:
“I think it’s important that Allen’s stamp is still on this. I’m not really sure how the other brands work and I’m not really sure when the other brand’s bring product back if they engage the athlete— I don’t know how they do it. For us, it was really important that we went to AI and said, ‘Hey this is what we’re planning on doing. We want to do it in 2012 and we want you to be involved.” - Todd Krinsky, Reebok Vice President

Warriors! Come out and plaaaaayay! Drop 3 of Warriors of Radness' gear has landed, and yes, I'm fully aware that I chose this picture to post due the prominent use of the bodyboard front and center. Check out the lookbook here, and purchase either at The Reserve or a retailer near you!

Another strong woman's only Air Max 1 release from Nike in a hot colorway. The solar red throughout is clean, but in my opinion, the kicker is the gum sole that offsets the white midsole and toe box and solar upper perfectly. More pictures over at Kicks on Fire.

Supreme's release of the 3 Herringbone Donegal camp hats. The release date (today) snuck up on me, and naturally, they are already sold out at the time of this post (and probably less than 5 minutes they went up on the online site to begin with). I failed you. I failed myself. I apologize. Check out the items available on the store here.

I don't think the word "shocked" would even begin to describe it when I heard that Nick Wooster was going to head over to JC Penny in the role as VP, Brand, Design and Trend for Men's early last month. I doubted the former Men's Fashion Director from Neiman Marcus was just looking for a job, and concluded that he believed that he, along with new JC Penney CEO (and former Apple retail exec Ron Johnson) and a distinct re-branding effort - could help to push the company forward in a new direction. Unfortunately - as stock holders learned today, good things come to those who wait, and the drastic changes put in place have yet to turn around the companies economic outlook. As Forbes reported today - JC Penney lost $163 million through Q1. At the end of the day - JC Penney has my attention - and I'm curious to see if they not only change their store culture, but also turn that in to a profitable company and preserve one of America's first department/anchor stores.
For those unfamiliar with Nick Wooster - check some of his bold fashion choices after the jump

Can't believe it was almost a year ago that I stumbled on a Vans x Hello Kitty Collaboration during a random stoll in the mall - and was quite surprised. Looks like they were brought back for another round for the summer - this time featuring 9 different models/colorways. Check out Nice Kicks for more pictures.

Tyler gives us a preview of the Supreme x Cambell's Soup x Vans Authentic collaboration above. Information below via Supreme. Is this latest collaboration a hit or miss? Either way - one this is for certain - Come Thursday afternoon - the collection will be long gone.
The Campbell's soup can label is one of the most recognizable product labels in the world and has been a part of the American landscape for over 100 years. It was propelled further into the national psyche with Andy Warhol's various renditions of the labels throughout the 1960's and 70's.
Supreme has teamed up with Campbell's to create a small group of products highlighting this iconic label. The group will include three classic Vans styles - the Sk8-Hi, the Half Cab, and the Authentic, as well as a 5-Panel cap and a T-Shirt.
Available in-store in NY, LA, London and online on May 10th. Available now in Japan.

Wow - this message is pretty clear. Artist SERVER presents "The Death of Street Art". Placed in downtown Detroit, Server took popular imagery from artists such as Shepard Fairy, Kaws, Banksy, Barry McGee, and others, showing them carrying the casket of Street Art. Has all of the mainstream media attention that's been given to Street Art these last couple of years resulted in watered downed messages? Have we reached a point of over-saturation? Are these artists, dare it be said, selling out to corporate America? Only time will tell. Picture via HB.

Personally - I've always thrown Chucks in the department where you really shouldn't stray outside of the classics, ie: black, navy, or white are really the only options. The current stone-washed collection, however, straddles the line of adding color (available in teal, flamingo, black, and beige) to a classic siloutte without being over the top. Purchase here.

I know some of the readers may not be R&B fans so here is the Hip Hop/Rap Volume. You may have heard some of these unless you've been under a rock. I tried to put a variety of tracks together so there was a little of something for everyone, or if your like my partner Prince and your way behind you can catch up with these 25. As for the cover art, if your wondering it's of Rihanna blowing smoke on a ice cream cone. Yes you read that right, I needed a

It's that time again. I've been trying to find ways to be different then these other blogs. The problem is we are so over saturated with music we often miss good songs or only play songs for a couple days and then it's on to the next one. Also music is so subjective and I often see what people like and hate on these other blogs and it boggles my mind. Here is why I say this, people like to follow people who everyone else isn't following and they're loyal to certain artist until they blow up or until the majority jumps on the wagon then want to move on to the next artist. I can go on and on and I'm sure you've heard me say this before but I love music too much and have listened to more music in my lifetime then I can remember. Everyone won't agree with all of my music taste but enough people have told me they like my choices for me to believe I have somewhat of a musical ear. With that said here is the next volume of the OSTT mixtape series.
With OSTT Vol. V I wanted to slow it down for all the people who love R&B and need a break from the hip hop. I got inspiration to do this from a good friend and I tried to tell a story based on what most people go through when they feel a certain way the ups and downs, the thought process etc. When you listen to the songs you'll see from 1-19 its like a ride. The cover inspiration also sums up that moment and evokes emotion we've all felt that moment right before the kiss. I'm sure most of you understand and if not maybe you will after this tape. A lot of these songs are old some are new but that's the point I'm making that we are too over saturated maybe some of these songs will bring back old memories or spark new ones. Either way enjoy. For all you rap fiends no worries Volume VI will be dropped today as well. Download, listen and share.
Hit the jump for the track-listing.

Black Cement's and the wear every once-in-a-magenta-moon of the Canvas AM 1's. Still pretty bright and out there - but subtle enough that it works for a Sprint/Summer outfit. More pictures of the AIr Max Melon Crush over at Nice Kicks.
