Tellason Denim


I've posted on Tellason before - and why wouldn't I - they are easily one of my favorite pairs of jeans. First word that comes to mind when thinking of my Tellason's - QUALITY. Anyway - recently stumbled on this great video on Tellason's denim process - featuring Tellason's owners/designers Tony Patella and Pete Searson - make sure and watch it (embedded after the jump).

Speaking of Tellason, I've never really seen a pair fully broken in (since mine are still relatively new). The good folks over at Rarw Denim did a feature on them back in April as part of their Faded Friday series, and it's worth a look. Check it out here.

Tanner Goods: Pendleton Lined Card Holder


I've been a fan of Tanner Goods for a while now - from their leather patches sewn on a good percentage of the US-made niche denim market, to their quality hand-crafted wallets and other designs. It looks like they recently stepped up the design factor on their cardholder (originally featured Summer 2010) by lining it with Pendleton Wool, leading to a 200% increase in cool factor. Apparently, these are only available at the Portland flagship store now as they are being market tested - but hopefully look for these to be a regular part of the Tanner Goods repertoire shortly. I love shirts like this - but the fact of the matter is - they are so memorable and vivid to the people that see you in it, you can really only wear it ever once in a blue moon. Just my opinion, but it makes it hard to justify the cost in that scenario. Regardless - the shirt is fresh.

Amar'e Stoudemire x Rachel Roy


At first, this Amar'e Soudemire collaboration with American Designer Rachel Roy caught me off guard, but if you take a step back - its pretty easy to identify Amar'e as one of the best dressed players in the League (some of his fashion highlights have been copied after the jump). For those of you that don't follow High Fashion (Women's at that) - Rachel Roy started her own line in 2005 after interning at Roc-A-Fella and eventually heading the Women's and Children's division of the brand. Hollywood elite such as Michelle Obama, Diane Sawyer, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Garner, Iman, Lucy Liu, Sharon Stone and Penélope Cruz have worn Rachel Roy collection pieces to various formal gatherings and award shows - and with her lines being sold at Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Sak's, and a side-venture/more affordable collection at Macy's - she is a force in women's fashion that is here to stay.

A$AP Rocky & Gang | Trilla


So I'm sure most of you have heard of A$AP Rocky or have atleast heard of the song Peso. This is a new artist on the scene from NY, who if you ask me has that OVOXO sound. I wouldn't be surprised if they joined forces soon. At first I was hesitant but then I started reading a little more about him and listening to music by him and I can get down with him, he has his own style and stays in his own lane. This new track Trilla features his crew A$AP Twelvy & A$AP Nast. I really love this beat, it fits the way he rhymes well. Look out for his new project LiveLoveA$AP dropping soon!

Stussy Deluxe Lookbook featuring Jules Gayton


I just posted some flicks of the Stussy Lookbook the other day - but that was more of a photography post. Stussy gave a closer look in this new collection of photo's, featuring none-other than Jules Gayton (bio copied below). I think Jules looks captures the essence of the line a better than than Mark and Tyron's photography did - but I think the juxtopisition of how the gear is shown is evidence of how dynamic the line is. "Original Stussy New York tribe member Jules Gayton jumps in front of the lens for the Stussy Deluxe Autumn/Winter look book. Born in London, the avid DJ, skateboarder and art fanatic moved to the states in the 1980’s and landed in both California and New York for school at Pepperdine University and Parsons School of Design. While in New York, Jules became a prominent downtown DJ landing resident positions at many New York hot spots such as Area, Cheetah, Tunnel and the infamous Limelight to name a few. It was in New York that Gayton met Shawn Stussy and the longstanding relationship with Stussy began. Gayton was a fixture in Stussy ads and DJ’ed for Stussy World Tribe parties in both Tokyo (with Tribe members Hiroshi Fujiwara, Alex Baby and Michael Koppelman) and New York. In 2001, Jules moved from New York to Hawaii where he opened his shop Leilow in 2003. He is also a partner in the fourth US Stussy boutique, Stussy Honolulu which was opened in 2004."

"The Original Bike Shelf" by Knife & Saw


Granted I am not the biggest fan of displaying my bike in the house - It beats the garage, and there is no way in the world I'm keeping my road bike outside, so that being said, functional design pieces like this always excite me. My wife always gives me grief about displaying the bike in the living room like its art or something anyway, so why not just adobt that mentality 100% and display it on the wall! Knife & Saw has a nice piece for a living room wall mount (more pics here) and I have no complaints (aside from the price tag of $300 - which is a bit hefty when you take a step back and acknowledge it for it is). Anyway, kudo's for the design!

Mark Gonzales (GONZ) for Supreme London


By now, you've probably heard that SUPREME is opening up its first Flagship store outside of the US and Japan in none other than London this Thursday. Gonz created a custom sculpture, in addition to some paint work, for the retail store. Being from the westcoast - I don't subscribe to the believe that streetwear is 'A New York thing', so I kind of held the name 'aNYthing' against them over the years. That being said, they are doing some real interesting things with thier cut and sew collection this season. Check it out over at their online store.

I know your going to look at this cover and think hmm another Weeknd remix whatever whatever... Well I'm going to say this, no one would ever think to speed up the Weeknd's music vibe but everyone thinks slow or chopped n screwed Weeknd all the time it just makes sense. Well this guy Chi Duly made this work and made it work well, this sound is so dynamic and easy on the ears. It immediately made me dance through the whole song (video footage to prove it). First off I know I big up and hype up a lot of artist but it's only because of my love and passion for music. When I hear good music which comes few and far between with all of this other trash, I celebrate it and big it up an hype it up. With that being said every knows I think PAC DIV is one of the hardest rap groups since Outkast in my opinion. I will explain rather let Like my man up top explain or should I say back up my point. This is a old school James Brown track that Like 1/3 of PAC DIV jumps on a freestyles from beginning to end without stopping and ON ONE TAKE. These dudes just left Universal and are Independent which mean they're HUNGRY. Look out for The Div 11.1.11. Listen to this and tell me this isn't hip hop at its finest. #RESPECT.

Parker - Weekend at Biggie's

I stumbled on Parker a couple weeks back, and dug a couple of their designs (namely, this Weekend at Bernie's inspired shirt featuring P.Diddy and Tupac proppin' up the Notorious BIG, and their Peewee Herman #SWAG shirt (check it out here)).

I realize that this post isn't much in terms of a Tupac tribute on the 15th anniversary of his passing - but I'm afraid I don't have the time to a due proper tribute in blog-form, so rather, I'm going to cop The Outlawz new (and last) cd, Perfect Timing, out today - and pay homage that way.

I had to take the time and share this bad boy with you. I have been hearing a lot about this guy and never really took the time to listen to his music. So I'm going to get this out there and say that this mixtape is EXCELLENT. I don't want to big it up too much but please take the time to DL and listen. This guys is a writer, producer, rapper & singer. It's funny the other day I said to myself man there isn't a lot of new music dropping well at least in the last week and so I decided to give this a shot because I had nothing else to listen to. Supreme x Levi's

I really like the collaborations that have been coming out of the SUPREME camp as of late - and this one is no different. Supreme and Levi's link up for a capsule collection that will drop September 15th. Additional details below (via Supreme) - and check out more pictures from the collection here.
 
Levi's is an American institution and is known worldwide as the benchmark of quality Denim products. For the Fall season Supreme has joined forces with Levi's for the first time to produce a small capsule collection.

Nike Air Mag


So here it is - the post you knew was coming. I wanted to avoid posting the exact same thing that everyone and their moms is posting - but let's be honest, it would just be the huge elephant in the room (like 2DopeBoyz still refusing to acknowledge the existence of Tyler the Creator) - and I don't want to lose any credibility here.

So by now - you know that Nike released the Nike Air Mag (the shoes featured in the Back II The Future movie) - here is why it matters:

1) The movie series is a classic - and not a single shoe, real or fictional, has had sneaker-heads petition Nike to release them over the years like this.


2) They are designed by Tinker Hatfield, who I think is the most acclaimed shoe-designer of all time (yes, I'm biased). Tinker ran track for Bill Bowerman (founder of Nike) while at Oregon studying Architecture, and after his stint in the architecture world, went on to design the Air Max 1, The Air Jordan Series (3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,20, and 23), The first Zoom Lebron, the Nike Air Presto, and of course the Huarache, among many more.


3) Nike is releasing the shoe in 2011, rather than 2015 (the year they were set to release in the #BTTF movie). Why? Oh, because each of the 1,500 pairs manufactured are being sold with proceeds benefiting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons disease (did I mention that  Sergey Brin [Founder of Google] offered to match all donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation up to $50 million through the end of next year?).
4) This is going to be the most competitive (and news-covered) shoe release of all time. Nike is releasing 150 pairs a day for 10 days and putting them up for auction on Ebay. For this gig, you aren't just competing against Hypebeasts and Sneakerheads - you also need to fend of the Back II The Future obsessed, in addition to Michael J. Fox/Family Tie fans, and let's face it, art collectors. After day 1, no pair went for less than $4k - and I expect that to be the trend.

The Black Keys | Blakroc 2 (Trailer)



So I had the opportunity to meet some guys from NY who came in the office that help manage The Black Keys and this was not too long ago and with me being the music buff it was kind of embarrassing. I was so busy I never got the chance to look them up until this was posted then I immediately went to DL the album. All I'm going to say is these guys are blues at its finest. Be on the lookout for them and this project seems super fresh minus DAME DASH.... Anyways, go check out there album Brothers.

Also I thought it was interesting to learn that these guys were from Akron hometown of Lebron James... and my parents. Crazy how many connections your life has when you think about it. Not like I know them but interesting to see how things lineup.

SiLK Update: Version 1 of the Blackroc LP did get the OSTT seal of approval back in 09, and the cosign definitely lives on - classic stuff.
