The Hundreds x Obama (you knew it was coming)
Ok, I was over posting Obama shirts (I'm actually over posting links to all the related Obama shirts I've posted as well, so you can check the archives yourself). I'm actually not even a huge fan of the shirt on a stand alone basis (comes off a little too much like the "Jesus is my Homeboy" shirts. But, I always appreciate it TH breaks down what is going through their mind during the design process, so here goes:
Obviously inspired by Public Enemy’s “Fear of a Black Planet” (which was in itself a politically charged work commentating on the socioeconomic plight of black America), the illustration is stirred by the recent campaign, media infatuation, and public celebrity of Senator Barack Obama.
Allow me to disclaim that the t-shirt is not a cut-and-dry advocate of Obama for President. Although our political tendencies may seem blatant, the shirt’s message acts as a double-entendre that, served as a conversation piece, can swing both ways. The overall theme and concept being that there is a genuine concern, whether in enthusiastic anticipation, inquisitive curiosity, or outright fear, that dominates Obama’s aura and the surrounding ‘08 presidential race. Whether that stems from his leadership qualities, credentials or his oratory skills, to his religious beliefs and yes, even his skin color.. surprisingly, the illustration acknowledges that the mystery does exist and thrive, and as we prepare to decide on our nation’s next leader (one whom we all hope will save us from the throes of war and economic downshift), hopefully it encourages us to see beyond the mystery and explore and understand both sides of the coin before we can rightfully make that choice… that is, if we ever get to those aforementioned debates…

DJ Haze & The Game - BWS vol 5
Ok, I need to keep it 100, I'm 4 tracks in, and already, this mixtape > LAX.
I don't know what went wrong with LAX, I'm just not as big a fan of it as I was of Dr. Advocate (my fav Game album) or The Documentary. I'm feeling a lot of the tracks (Dope Boys, Angel, LAX Files, State of Emergency), but some of them, I just can't get in to (Money, Ya heard, etc).
Anyway, this tape brings it back, and finally features some more of the Black Wall Street team (i.e. Juice, Clyde Carson, X.O., and others).

Gallery 1988 x Jeff McMillan
Akomplice x Barak Obama
I think at this point, its safe to say that the most consistent streetwear theme of the year has been Barak. Barak shirts to streetwear is the "A Millie" beat to rappers lookin for a track to rap on. This one features another pic of Obama in HS, this time with some special guests (yeezy and jayz balled in hs?) lol.

Stussy x Commonweath - WOW
I don't want to get to deep in to it, but wow, this shirt is AMAZING. Commemorating the 68 Olympics and Tommie Smith/John Carlos political display. I just finished Tommie Smith's memoir/autobiography (not sure the difference), so look out for the Silks Book Club on it soon.
Oh, and random fact, Tommie Smith used to watch/babysit me while my mom had track practice (Tommie Smith coached track at Santa Monica city college in the early 80's, suckas).
Get it in VA or online on Monday. Via Commonwealth...

Jordan - Blase
Wow. A Jordan I can rock to work? As High Snobiety points out, the shoe does slightly resemble Prada's "American Cup" shoe (besides, the slacks will cover the strap, lets be honest).

Royce 5'9 - Bary Exam 2
Do yourself a favor and download the new Royce 5'9 mixtape, The Bar Exam 2, over at HipHopDX ! Royce dropped one of my favorite cd's of all time (Death is Certain), and the first installment of the Bar Exam was right along that track, so I'm sure part 2 will not disapoint.

Nike - Air Dirt
Wow. These are by far the most comfortable hiking/trail shoe on the market. I just got back from a backpacking trip in Mammoth. I normally use my old running shoes, but copped these on sale, and couldn't have been happier with their performance. Light like a running shoe, grip like a climbing shoe, and sturdy like a boot. Wow. Get yourself a pair.

Kid Robot x Obama
So Kid Robot has now tried their hand at an Obama shirt. Another dope look.
Just curious, is any streetwear brand (for ironie's sake at least) going to make a McCain shirt? I can see it now, John McCain as either Hulk Hogan or the Ultimate Warrior's get up, with McCAIN-IAC written below, lol. Yes, I avoided the obvious Palin shirt possibilities, haha.
Oh, and check NahRight for new Consequence.

TH x Disney?!
So if you stumbled on Hypebeast earlier, you have seen this graphic with a short story on The Hundreds collabo with Disney, before it was quickly taken down (cat not ready to be let out the bag yet?) This graphic was being shown as part of a display during Magic, and if you remember, goes with the hints that were popping up on their blog a few weeks ago. All in all, should be the beginning of an interesting relationship!

The Know It All - One Man's Humble Quest to Become the Smartest Person in the World.
Wow, what a title, right? A co-worker put me up on this book a couple years, and it took me about 2 years to read it. Not because it was horrible read, but because it's the perfect book to leave around and pick up whenever. I cherished this book, never wanted it to end. Quick Synopisis, AJ wants to "one up" his dad and read the entire encyclopedia Brittanica, start to finish. Throughout his novel (broken out by letters a-z instead of chapter numbers) we simultaneously get updates on his life ( works as editor of Esquire magazine, is trying to get his wife pregnant, and is constantly embarking on interesting adventures, whether its trying out for 'Who Wants 2 Be a Millionaire' to interviewing Alex Trebec), all while throwing in random facts he learned from his readings in a somewhat organized manner. I highly reccomend this book, although his new one looks beyond corny.
I think Jon Stewart said it best: "The Know-It-All is a hilarious book and quite an impressive achievement. I've always said, why doesn't someone put out a less complete version of the encyclopedia? Well done, AJ"
Definitely a keeper, and a much better bathroom read than "Chicken Soup". How else would I have learned that the "French Horn" is from Germany, or that cold-blooded animals often have warmer blood than warm-blooded animals?
